Winning record

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

It’s almost 7 weeks after the end of the middle school softball season. Time to write another softball entry. Better late than never. The team finished with an 18-4 record, several players improved, and I managed to get a tan. Honestly it was a great experience and I couldn’t have asked for a btter group of kids or coaches to serve as mentors. My hope is I can coach softball again next year. For now it looks like I will be serving as an assistant volleyball coach this fall.

Saturday T-Ball Practice

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Coaching 4 and 5 year olds is not much different than coaching 7th graders. Much of the drills and fundamentals are the same, just a scaled down version that is simplified and shorter in length. Todays practice went smoothly thanks to the book, “The Baffled Parent’s Guide to Coaching Tee Ball.” We worked on holding the ball, throwing the ball, fielding, and hitting. The best part? Snacks and our team cheer at the end of practice. Yeah Team!

7th grade softball

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

My first few weeks coaching 7th grade softball has been a great experience. I am learning from both the players and the coaches. So far we have played four games and our record is 3-1. Our next game is against Solon on Friday.
